CG101: What is an Arc used for in Animation and Why is it important? By: Digital Tutors
This explains in the most simple way of why using an Arc is important. It shows how a line will look instead of an arc.
Showing how the character looks strange and unnatural when he moves his head back and forth. Though the eye
darts should probably be straight lines. (Computer Animation)
When animating without arcs, it creates a rigid character and really lowers the quality. In the second video, it shows
how much it can really take away from whats going on. You focus more on the character and how they're moving
instead of what is going on in that scene. Because we may walk in a straight line but we don't walk like British Guards.
Arcs-Animation Principle by: Richard Brees
A great example of a straight line without arcs and then with arcs (Computer Animation)
(Not the best animation)
First the rigid figure then onto a smooth walking figure.
